Why Is Our
Cancer Rehabilitation Service Important To You?
Anyone who has been diagnosed with
cancer needs to attend to his or her physical and emotional well
being in order to meet the challenge of recovery. Most cancer
interventions, although important for combating the disease, lead
to physical weakness, decreased endurance, loss of independence
and often provoke anxiety and fear.
This program has been developed to help you meet the unusual and
demanding needs that develop when cancer is diagnosed and the
recovery process is underway or ending. Our goal is to help you
with the struggle to maintain your personal dignity and independence
throughout the treatment and recovery process. We also want to
strengthen you to meet the challenges you may encounter.
What Can We Offer You?
We offer a wide range of rehabilitative and Physical Therapy services.
Our program focuses on strengthening your body, pain management
and targeted physical rehabilitation. Generalized strengthening
and endurance training has been shown to maintain higher levels
of functional independence so often compromised with surgery,
chemotherapy and radiation. Improved strength and endurance will
enable you to do more for yourself and your loved ones. We also
have programs for medically supervised weight reduction via nutritional
guidance and controlled exercises to help with recovery related
weight gains.
Our program to assist post Mastectomy and breast reconstruction
has helped hundreds of women regain full function. We also specialize
in the management of Lymphedema.
Who Provides Our Services?
We have a well-trained and experienced rehabilitation team who
are members of the American Physical Therapy Association and its
Oncologic Section. Our physical therapy staff and associates have
extensive rehabilitation experience. Even more importantly, we
have developed this program as a result of our special interest
in serving cancer patients and emphasize the importance of personalized
quality care.
